Frequently Asked Questions

What types of membership do you have?

·        Active: free admission to all general meetings; monthly newsletter, vendor discounts, discounted price to MREIA-sponsored seminars, and access to the MREIA Forum/Discussion Board.

(Membership Dues are Non-Refundable without the Approval of the Executive Board)

·        Annual Membership Dues: $150 for 1 year, $225 for 2 years, $300 for 3 years). You can save up to $150 with a Multi-year membership!

·        Associate: free admission to all general meetings for Associate Members (Only one Associate per Active Member) living in the same household. (Annual Dues are $50). An Associate membership expires when the sponsor's membership expires.
Associates may become members at any time. Please see ACTIVE above for membership information.

·        Vendor: includes all of the active member benefits and additional privileges depending on the Vendor Level chosen.

Can I attend a meeting before joining?  

·        Yes, you may attend as a visitor (one time only) by paying a one time $25 fee. You do not have to register in advance of a meeting.  Should you decide to join during or by the end of the meeting, the $25 fee will be credited toward your annual membership fee.

When do you hold your monthly meetings?

On the third Monday evening of every month. In December, our Annual Holiday Catered Party/Networking Meeting, (free to members) is held on the first Monday of December.

How should I dress to attend a meeting?

Comfortable clothes are suggested. most people dress more formally for our Annual Holiday Party

Are meetings ever cancelled because of inclement weather?

In the rare event that a meeting had to be cancelled, you would be notified by an email. You could also call the MREIA Secretary.

How are National Speakers selected by MREIA?

It is our policy that a National Speaker’s previous presentation has been witnessed and recommended by a current or past Board member. MREIA does not endorse any speakers. Members are directed to seek appropriate legal, accounting and/or other professional advice before entering into any business transactions.

How do I become a member?

You may join by returning to the Home Page and clicking on “Join” where several options for joining are offered.

Do you have a Code of Ethics?

Yes. We expect our members to abide by the guidelines which have been set forth in previous newsletters. We reserve the right to revoke the membership of any member (including our vendors) who violates our Code of Ethics.

Do you offer mentoring?

No. Our primary mission is to provide education through meetings, seminars, a Forum/Discussion board (open to members only), monthly Saturday morning breakfasts, an information-packed monthly email newsletter and networking. You will be able to speak with experienced members at general meetings. We do NOT recommend that you give thousands of dollars to those who offer mentoring. Ultimately, it is YOU who must do your homework and put together your own team of professionals to guide you.

How are the meetings structured?

6:30 pm  Pre-meetings for beginning and advanced investors (Q & A).

7:00 pm  General announcements by the Board and from members. 

7:30 pm-to about 9:15 pm   The featured speaker.

 

I am serious about learning Real Estate investing. What does MREIA offer?

Our primary mission is EDUCATION.  We are a non-profit corporation whose Board of Directors is comprised of elected, appointed unpaid officers, and volunteer chair persons. We invite National Speakers only 3-4 times per year. The other meetings are conducted by NEW JERSEY LOCAL SPEAKERS who are willing to share their expertise. [Click on “Past Events”]

I’m a beginner in real estate. Will the meetings be over my head?

Unlikely; many of our members are also beginners and speakers always teach basic information before moving to more advanced concepts.

 

Do you also have seminars?  

Yes, on Saturdays, about 3-4 times a year, we sponsor very knowledgeable speakers who present all-day seminars. Please Visit our Website for Upcoming Meetings/Seminars. If you are a Current, Expired Member, or were a Visitor and did not Unsubscribe; you will receive information of an Upcoming Seminar.

 

Does MREIA sell its membership list to others?  

Absolutely not! We zealously guard our members’ privacy and the database is only available to authorized members of the Board of Directors.
